Most families go from their first phone call to their first caregiver visit in 48 hours to one week. Here is how the process works.
Call, fill out a form, or chat with a real person on the site.
Our intake coordinator listens to your situation and explains your options.
Documents are sent by email. Nearly all families complete this step electronically.
A registered nurse visits your loved one's home, usually within 24 hours of your first call. The visit covers care needs, home safety, and fall prevention and takes about an hour.
We match your loved one with caregivers based on skill, availability, proximity, and personality.
Simple schedules can start within a couple of days. More complex arrangements take slightly longer.
Yes. We are contracted with three programs that only a small percentage of home care agencies hold:
Eligible veterans receive services at zero out-of-pocket cost.
Qualifying plan members may have services covered.
Enrolled individuals receive care at zero out-of-pocket cost.
Approximately 60% of our clients pay privately. Private pay is billed every two weeks after care is provided, with no upfront payment required.
Suncoast Senior Care operates three offices covering eight territories across the Tampa Bay and Sarasota regions.
Sarasota, Siesta Key, Palmer Ranch, Venice, Lakewood Ranch, Bradenton, Palmetto
St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Palm Harbor, Dunedin, Tarpon Springs, Largo
Tampa, Lutz, Carrollwood, Northdale, Citrus Park
Our caregivers are experienced, mature adults who share the same generational background as the clients they serve. Many came to caregiving after caring for a spouse or parent. That shared life experience produces two things families care about most: genuine connection and reliability.
The home care industry loses between 68% and 80% of its caregivers every year, according to a large annual industry benchmarking study. Our turnover rate is significantly below that. We also track the Continuity of Care Index (COCI), a metric that measures whether the same caregivers are consistently assigned to the same clients. Most agencies do not measure this at all.
Every caregiver completes Level 2 background screening through Florida's Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse before providing any care. We have been recognized as a Nextdoor Neighborhood Favorite across 17 neighborhoods in 2023 and 2024.
Seniors Helping Seniors® was co-founded in 1998 by Kiran and Philip Yocom. Kiran spent 14 years working alongside Mother Teresa, an experience that shaped the organization’s founding belief: care is most meaningful when it comes from someone who understands your life.
Suncoast Senior Care is locally owned and operated by Andy Malivuk, who has been with Seniors Helping Seniors® for nine years and ranks among the top franchise owners out of more than 200 nationally. Andy’s grandmother and mother both had difficult experiences finding reliable home care, which is what brought him to this work. His very first employee was his own grandfather, a WWII Navy Veteran.
Andy operates three offices covering eight territories across Sarasota, Manatee, Pinellas, and Hillsborough counties.
Each Seniors Helping Seniors® office is independently owned and operated.
How quickly can home care start? Most families go from their first call to their first caregiver visit in 48 hours to one week. Simple schedules can be arranged within a couple of days. More complex 24/7 arrangements take slightly longer to coordinate.
Care schedules start from as few as 6 hours per week and can scale up to 24/7 continuous coverage with rotating caregivers.
We do not offer live-in arrangements. Instead, we provide shift-based care that can cover any hour of the day or night, including overnight shifts where caregivers remain awake to assist clients safely.
Yes. A registered nurse visits the client’s home for an in-depth assessment before any care starts. This typically happens within 24 hours of the initial call and covers care needs, the home environment, and fall prevention.
After the nurse assessment, we match clients with caregivers based on skill set, availability, proximity, and personality. When multiple caregivers meet the criteria, we narrow the selection based on background, temperament, and any specific requests from the client or family.
If the caregiver match is not the right fit, we will make a change quickly. Our goal is long-term consistency and comfort, not forcing a pairing that does not work.
We listen carefully to your feedback, adjust the care plan if needed, and introduce a new caregiver who better aligns with your preferences and personality. Because we focus on experienced, dependable caregivers and continuity of care, match changes are uncommon, but when they are needed, we handle them promptly and professionally
Yes. We are contracted with all three programs. Eligible veterans, qualifying Medicare Advantage members, and PACE participants may receive services at zero out-of-pocket cost.
We bill every two weeks for the previous two weeks of care. There is no upfront payment required.
For most people, yes. Home care is generally the more affordable option until a client needs approximately 10 to 12 hours of care per day, seven days a week. Most clients need far less than that.
