Falls, near-falls, unsafe bathing, medication confusion, or worsening mobility.

Family lives out of the area.

Adult children who can't be there day-to-day and want consistent eyes and ears in the home.

A spouse, son, or daughter has been doing it all and needs reliable relief.

Recent hospitalization or decline.

A discharge, a new diagnosis, or a sudden change that means home isn't working the way it used to.

From Your First Call to Active Care

Most families have care in place within 48 hours to one week of reaching out.

  • Step 1
    Contact and Intake Call

Call us or reach out online. Our intake coordinator spends about 15 minutes learning about your situation, answering your questions, and helping determine whether home care is the right next step.

  • Step 2
    Paperwork

Documents are sent digitally for review and signature. In-person completion is also available if preferred.

  • Step 3
    Nurse Assessment

A registered nurse visits the home for an approximately one-hour assessment, typically within 24 to 48 hours of your first contact.

  • Step 4
    Caregiver Matching

We match based on skill set, availability, proximity, and personality. When multiple caregivers qualify, we narrow the selection based on temperament and any specific preferences.

  • Step 5
    Care Begins

Simple care schedules can be staffed within a couple of days. More complex arrangements, including 24/7 care, typically take up to one week to coordinate.

About Seniors Helping Seniors®

Seniors Helping Seniors® was co-founded in 1998 by Kiran and Philip Yocom. The organization was inspired by Kiran’s 14 years working alongside Mother Teresa, and the founding principle is that care is most meaningful when it comes from someone who shares your life experience.

The Lakewood Ranch area is served by Andy Malivuk, who has owned and operated Seniors Helping Seniors® locations in the Tampa Bay region for nine years. His grandfather was his very first employee.

Each office is independently owned and operated. Seniors Helping Seniors® is a registered trademark of Corporate Mutual Resources Incorporated.

Why Families Here Choose Seniors Helping Seniors®

Reliable home care comes down to consistency. It means the same caregiver showing up, understanding routines, and providing stable, predictable support. When care is inconsistent, families deal with repeated retraining, disrupted routines, and increased safety risk. We focus on continuity by assigning consistent caregivers and actively tracking that consistency over time, so your loved one is cared for by someone who knows them, not a revolving door of new faces.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Lakewood Ranch fall in Sarasota or Manatee County?

Lakewood Ranch straddles both counties. Our office holds state licenses for both Sarasota County (License #299995918) and Manatee County (License #299995251), so we serve residents throughout the entire Lakewood Ranch community regardless of which side of the county line they are on. We also serve families in surrounding communities through Home Care in Sarasota and Home Care in Bradenton.

What types of home care services are available?

We provide a full range of non-medical in-home care, including companion care, homemaker services, personal care, dementia support services, fall prevention, and home care for veterans. Care can be scheduled from as few as 6 hours per week up to 24/7 continuous coverage with rotating caregivers.

How quickly can home care begin in Lakewood Ranch?

Home care in Lakewood Ranch typically begins within 48 hours to one week of your first call. A nurse assessment is usually scheduled within 24 to 48 hours of initial contact. Simpler care schedules can be staffed within a couple of days. More involved arrangements, like around-the-clock care, may take slightly longer to coordinate.

Do you provide home care for veterans in Lakewood Ranch?

Yes. Seniors Helping Seniors® is contracted with the Veterans Administration. Eligible veterans can receive the full range of our services at zero out-of-pocket cost. The VA assesses each veteran individually and authorizes a set number of weekly hours, typically between 4 and 20 hours per week.

What makes your caregivers different from other home care agencies?

Our caregivers are experienced, mature adults who share a generational background with the clients they serve. Many came to caregiving after caring for their own family members. This produces genuine connection and measurably lower turnover than the industry norm. The result for families is consistent, familiar care rather than a revolving door of new faces.

Is a long-term contract required to start care?

No long-term contract is required. Most families start with a short, no-obligation call to talk through the situation and see whether our services are the right fit. There is no commitment required to have that first conversation, and care schedules can start small and grow as needs change.

What happens if the caregiver match isn't working?

We will make a change. Our goal is long-term consistency and comfort, not forcing a pairing that doesn’t work. We listen carefully, adjust the care plan if needed, and introduce a new caregiver who better aligns with your loved one’s preferences and personality.

Ready to Talk Through Your Options?

Most families start with a 10 to 15 minute call to explain the situation and find out whether home care is the right fit. There’s no obligation to move forward, and no pressure to decide anything on that first call.
