Most families reach out when something changes or starts to feel unsafe. Getting support in place early prevents bigger issues. Seniors Helping Seniors® provides non-medical in-home care for older adults in Palmetto and the surrounding Manatee County area. This is part of a broader home care plan designed to help older adults remain safely independent at home. Our caregivers are experienced, mature adults who share the same generational background as the clients they serve.

Seniors Helping Seniors® was co-founded by Kiran and Philip Yocom in 1998, inspired by Kiran’s 14 years working alongside Mother Teresa. The organization was founded on the belief that care is most meaningful when it comes from someone who shares your life experience.
The Palmetto-area operation is locally owned by Andy Malivuk, who has been with Seniors Helping Seniors® for nine years and ranks among the top franchise owners nationally. His motivation for entering home care came from his own family’s experiences. His grandfather was his very first employee.
Each Seniors Helping Seniors® office is independently owned and operated.
Reliable home care comes down to consistency. It means the same caregiver showing up, understanding routines, and providing stable, predictable support. When care is inconsistent, families deal with repeated retraining, disrupted routines, and increased safety risk. We focus on continuity by assigning consistent caregivers and actively tracking that consistency over time, so your loved one is cared for by someone who knows them, not a revolving door of new faces.
Companion care covers non-hands-on support: conversation, errands, light housekeeping, and similar tasks. Personal care involves hands-on assistance with bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility. Many clients receive both, depending on their needs.
Yes. A registered nurse visits the home for an in-depth assessment before any care starts. This typically happens within 24 to 48 hours of your first call and covers both care needs and home safety factors like fall risks.
We match based on skill set, availability, proximity, and personality. When multiple caregivers meet the baseline criteria, we narrow the selection using background, temperament, and any specific preferences from the client or family.
We’ll make a change. Our goal is long-term consistency, not forcing a pairing that doesn’t work. We listen to your feedback, adjust the care plan as needed, and find a caregiver who is a better fit. Match changes are uncommon, but when they’re needed, we handle them quickly.
Yes. We are contracted with the Veterans Administration. Eligible veterans can receive the full range of our home care services for veterans at zero out-of-pocket cost through VA benefits. The VA assesses each veteran individually and authorizes weekly hours, typically ranging from 4 to 20 hours per week.
Yes. Care is available around the clock, including overnight shifts and weekends. Overnight caregivers are required to remain awake throughout the night shift to assist clients who may need to use the bathroom or who may become disoriented in the dark.
Most families go from initial call to active care in 48 hours to one week. Simple schedules can be staffed within a couple of days. More comprehensive arrangements, including 24/7 care with rotating caregivers, take slightly longer to coordinate.
Every caregiver undergoes Level 2 background screening through Florida’s Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse before providing any care. This is the most comprehensive level of screening available in the state, and it is completed before a caregiver ever visits a client’s home.
Most families start with a short, 10 to 15 minute call to talk through the situation and see whether the service is the right fit. There’s no obligation to move forward.
