Senior transportation is a type of home care that provides rides to doctor’s appointments, procedures, errands, and outings, delivered by a dedicated in-home caregiver as part of an ongoing care plan. At Seniors Helping Seniors®, our caregivers are experienced, mature adults who already know your loved one.
This is not a medical transport service. We do not provide specialized transport or vehicles. We provide transportation with a consistent caregiver as part of an ongoing care plan.
Serving Sarasota and Manatee County families with experienced, mature caregivers.
Transportation is one part of a complete in-home care plan. When you schedule regular Home Care in Sarasota, your caregiver handles rides to appointments as part of ongoing support.
Accompaniment to and from the appointment, physical support in and out of the vehicle, and a familiar face throughout the visit.
Help navigating waiting rooms, managing paperwork, and mobility assistance throughout the facility.
Support before and after the procedure, including waiting on-site and ensuring a safe return home. Clients who need hands-on recovery help may also benefit from personal care services in Sarasota.
Assistance with shopping, carrying bags, and managing the physical demands of store visits.
Companionship during outings that help your loved one stay connected and maintain independence. This is closely related to our companion care services in Sarasota.

Light housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, grocery shopping, errands, and medication reminders.

Bathing and showering assistance, dressing, toileting, grooming, and mobility support
In-home safety assessment, hazard identification, and ongoing monitoring by caregivers
Supervision, companionship, and structured social interaction for clients with cognitive decline
Socialization, pet care, and regular updates for family members who live far away
Relief for family caregivers, available around the clock including overnight
Rides to appointments and errands, provided as part of a broader care plan
Full range of services at zero out-of-pocket cost for eligible veterans through our VA contract
Transportation is included as part of regular care for families dealing with any of these situations.
Your loved one has stopped driving but still needs to get to appointments regularly.
Getting to and from medical procedures requires more support than a rideshare can offer.
You handle transportation when you can, but need reliable backup for appointments you can't attend.
A familiar, trusted caregiver makes medical appointments less stressful for your loved one.
Regular care that includes transportation keeps the schedule consistent and manageable.
The Same Caregivers, Visit After Visit
Consistency is the difference between care that works and care that wears everyone out. Caregivers stay long-term, which means your loved one sees the same familiar faces instead of constant change. We track the Continuity of Care Index to make sure the same caregivers stay with the same clients over time. Consistency also improves safety, especially for clients with mobility challenges or cognitive decline.
Support throughout the entire outing
Caregivers accompany clients into appointments, assist with mobility, and provide support throughout the outing rather than dropping off and waiting in the car.
VA, Medicare Advantage, and PACE contracts
Only a small percentage of home care agencies hold contracts with all three of these programs. Eligible clients may receive care, including transportation support, at zero out-of-pocket cost.
Level 2 Background-Screened Caregivers
Every caregiver completes Level 2 background screening through Florida’s Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse, the most thorough screening level available in the state.
Getting started is straightforward. Most families are providing care for their loved one within a few days of their first call. Here’s what the process looks like.
Call us or reach out online. Our intake coordinator will spend about 10 to 15 minutes talking through your situation and your loved one's needs to see whether transportation support is the right fit. There is no obligation to move forward.
If you decide to move forward, documents are sent for review and signature. They can be completed digitally or in person, whichever works best for your family.
A registered nurse visits the home for an in-depth assessment, typically within 24 to 48 hours of your initial call.
We match your loved one with a caregiver based on skill set, availability, proximity, and personality.
For most situations, care starts within 48 hours to one week of the first call.
Most families pay privately, but eligible veterans and those with certain Medicare Advantage or PACE plans may have coverage options that reduce or eliminate out-of-pocket costs. For a full breakdown of costs and coverage options, visit our home care costs page.
We bill every other week for the prior two weeks of care. No payment is due upfront.
Eligible veterans receive services at zero out-of-pocket cost. The VA authorizes a set number of weekly hours and we schedule care accordingly.
Qualifying Medicare Advantage plans may cover services at zero out of pocket. Coverage is based on individual plan authorization.
Individuals enrolled in PACE may receive care at zero out-of-pocket cost under their program's authorized hours.
We provide in-home care, including transportation support, throughout Sarasota County and parts of Manatee County. Contact us to confirm coverage in your specific community.
Most families start with a short 10 to 15 minute call to talk through the situation and see whether our services are the right fit. There is no obligation to move forward.
Transportation is provided as part of a broader care relationship rather than as a standalone offering. When a caregiver is already providing regular in-home support, transportation to appointments and outings is included as one component of that care. This approach ensures your loved one is traveling with someone who knows them, understands their needs, and can provide appropriate physical and emotional support throughout the outing.
Yes. Our caregivers accompany clients throughout the outing, not just to and from the vehicle. That includes going inside the appointment, helping with mobility, assisting in the waiting room, and making sure your loved one gets home safely. This is one of the key differences between transportation through a care agency and using a rideshare or specialized transport service.
We serve communities throughout Sarasota County and Manatee County, including Sarasota, Venice, Bradenton, Lakewood Ranch, Siesta Key, and surrounding areas. Call us to confirm coverage for your specific location.
For most families, care can begin within 48 hours to one week of the initial call. A registered nurse completes an in-home assessment, typically within 24 to 48 hours of first contact, and care scheduling begins from there. If transportation needs are time-sensitive, mention that during your intake call.
The details of transportation logistics, including whether the caregiver uses their own vehicle or the client’s, are worked out during the intake process based on your specific situation and preferences. This is one of the things the intake coordinator will walk through with you on the initial call, so you know exactly what to expect before care begins.
Seniors Helping Seniors® is contracted with the Veterans Administration. Eligible veterans may receive the full range of our services, including transportation as part of their care plan, at zero out-of-pocket cost. The VA assesses each veteran individually and authorizes a specific number of weekly care hours. Learn more about home care for veterans in Bradenton.
