Family caregiver support is a type of home care that provides in-home relief, giving family caregivers a break while ensuring their loved one receives consistent care at home. Most families reach out when caregiving has started to take a real toll: missed sleep, skipped appointments, or the feeling that they can’t step away. Seniors Helping Seniors® provides this support through experienced, mature caregivers who step in so you can step away, for a few hours, a full day, or longer.

You've been managing most or all of the care yourself and need consistent, scheduled time off
You're sleeping less, skipping your own appointments, or running on empty most days
Your loved one gets up frequently at night. You need reliable overnight help but can't be on call every shift.
A work trip, family event, or vacation requires someone reliable to take over for a day or more
A few hours of scheduled relief is a natural starting point before expanding to more
You're managing your own recovery and need reliable coverage while you focus on getting better
Experienced, mature caregivers
Our caregivers are experienced, mature adults. The patience and understanding they bring comes from their own life experience, which makes a real difference in day-to-day care.
The Same Caregivers, Visit After Visit
Consistency is the difference between care that works and care that wears everyone out. Caregivers stay long-term, which means your loved one sees the same familiar faces instead of constant change. We track the Continuity of Care Index to make sure the same caregivers stay with the same clients over time. Consistency also improves safety, especially for clients with mobility challenges or cognitive decline.
Relief care available around the clock
Relief care is available every hour of the day, including overnight shifts, with caregivers who stay awake throughout the night.
Level 2 Background-Screened Caregivers
Every caregiver completes Level 2 background screening through Florida’s Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse, the most thorough screening level available in the state.
Getting started is straightforward. Most families have care in place within 48 hours to one week of first reaching out, depending on the complexity of the schedule needed.
Call us or reach out online. Our intake coordinator will spend about 10 to 15 minutes talking through your situation and your loved one's needs to see whether caregiver support is the right fit. There is no obligation to move forward.
If you decide to move forward, documents are sent for review and signature. They can be completed digitally or in person, whichever works best for your family.
A registered nurse visits for an in-depth home assessment, usually within 24 to 48 hours. Personal care services require this step before care begins.
We match your loved one with caregivers based on skill, availability, location, and personality. The goal is a pairing that stays consistent over time.
Relief care begins. Schedules range from a few hours per week up to 24/7 rotating coverage, depending on what you need.
Most families pay privately, but eligible veterans and those with certain Medicare Advantage or PACE plans may have coverage options that reduce or eliminate out-of-pocket costs. Seniors Helping Seniors® holds contracts with the VA, multiple Medicare Advantage plans, and PACE. Very few home care agencies hold contracts with all three, and each requires its own vetting process.
Billed every other week for the previous two weeks of care. No upfront payment required.
Eligible veterans receive services at zero out-of-pocket cost. See our home care for veterans in Sarasota page for details.
Qualifying Medicare Advantage plans may cover services at no cost. The plan authorizes weekly hours and we provide care within that authorization.
For individuals enrolled in PACE, services are covered at zero out-of-pocket cost under the same authorization process.

Most families start with a short 10 to 15 minute call to talk through the situation and see if our services are a good fit. There’s no obligation to move forward
From your first call to the start of care, the typical timeline is 48 hours to one week. Simpler schedules, like a few hours per week, can often be staffed within a couple of days. More comprehensive arrangements, including 24/7 rotating coverage with multiple caregivers, take a bit longer to coordinate.
No long-term commitment is required to get started. Care schedules can begin with just a few hours per week and expand as your situation changes. Whether you need occasional coverage or consistent recurring support, we’ll work with what fits your life and your loved one’s needs. Reach out and we’ll talk through the options.
Yes. Relief care is available every hour of the day, including overnight. For overnight shifts, caregivers are required to remain awake throughout the night to assist your loved one safely. This matters especially for clients who get up frequently to use the bathroom or who may become disoriented in the dark.
Care schedules can start from as few as 6 hours per week and scale all the way up to 24/7 continuous coverage with rotating caregivers. The right amount depends on your loved one’s needs and how much relief you’re looking for. We’ll help you figure out what makes sense.
We take continuity seriously and track our Continuity of Care Index, a metric that measures whether the same caregivers are consistently assigned to the same clients over time. Most home care agencies don’t measure this at all. A familiar caregiver who knows your loved one’s preferences, routine, and personality makes a meaningful difference in the quality of care.
We’ll make a change. If the pairing isn’t working, we listen to your feedback, adjust the care plan if needed, and find a caregiver who’s a better fit. We handle this promptly and without making you push for it. Long-term consistency and comfort are the goal.
For personal care services, including bathing, dressing, mobility support, and similar hands-on assistance, yes. A registered nurse visits the home for an in-depth assessment before care begins. This typically happens within 24 to 48 hours of your first call. The nurse evaluates care needs and the home environment, including fall prevention factors like grab bars, walk-in showers, and trip hazards in common walkways.
Every caregiver undergoes Level 2 background screening through Florida’s Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse before providing any care. This is the most thorough level of background screening available in the state. The agency also covers all required caregiver training costs before anyone begins working with clients.
