Fall prevention is a type of home care that combines a nurse safety assessment, hazard removal support, and ongoing caregiver monitoring to reduce fall risk at home. Most families reach out when safety becomes a concern, such as a recent near-fall, unsteady walking, or worsening mobility. At Seniors Helping Seniors®, our experienced, mature caregivers help keep the home safe on every visit.
Serving families across Sarasota and Manatee County with non-medical in-home care.
Reducing fall risk at home takes more than removing a throw rug. Our process covers the home environment, daily routines, and ongoing caregiver monitoring.
A registered nurse visits the home and evaluates fall hazards: grab bars, shower design, throw rugs, floor clutter, and walkway obstructions.
The nurse identifies specific changes and provides recommendations based on what they find during the assessment.
Once regular care begins, caregivers help ensure those safety measures are put into place.
Caregivers maintain awareness of the home environment on every visit and flag new concerns as they arise.

If any of these situations sound familiar, fall risk is already elevated and should be addressed before an injury occurs.
No one to notice gradual hazards like loose mats, low lighting, or bathroom clutter.
The period after returning home is one of the highest-risk windows for a fall, especially when mobility is still limited.
Conditions like Parkinson's, arthritis, or post-surgery recovery increase day-to-day fall risk.
A professional safety review gives remote family members accurate insight into actual home conditions.
Routine changes and environmental hazards are harder to self-manage with dementia.
Caregivers Who Notice What Others Miss
Our caregivers are experienced, mature adults. Many have navigated these same risks in their own homes. That familiarity makes them better at spotting hazards and flagging changes between visits.
A Nurse Assessment Before Care Begins
Every personal care engagement starts with an in-home nurse visit. The nurse spends approximately an hour evaluating the home for fall hazards alongside the client’s care needs.
The Same Caregivers, Visit After Visit
Caregivers stay long-term, so your loved one sees the same familiar faces instead of constant change. We track the Continuity of Care Index to make sure it stays that way. Consistency also improves safety, especially for clients with mobility challenges or cognitive decline.
Level 2 Background-Screened Caregivers
Every caregiver completes Level 2 background screening through Florida’s Care Provider Background Screening Clearinghouse, the most thorough screening level available in the state.
Most families go from first contact to active care within 48 hours to one week. Here is what that process looks like.
Call us or reach out online. Our intake coordinator will spend about 10 to 15 minutes talking through your situation and your loved one's needs to see whether fall prevention services are the right fit. There is no obligation to move forward.
If you decide to move forward, documents are sent for review and signature. They can be completed digitally or in person, whichever works best for your family.
A registered nurse visits the home within 24 to 48 hours. The visit takes about one hour and covers fall risks, home safety, and care needs.
We match caregivers based on skill, availability, proximity, and personality, with a focus on long-term consistency.
Visits start. Caregivers monitor the home environment each shift and communicate new concerns as they come up.
Most families pay privately, but eligible veterans and those with certain Medicare Advantage or PACE plans may have coverage options that reduce or eliminate out-of-pocket costs.
We bill every other week for the previous two weeks of service. No upfront payment required.
Eligible veterans pay zero out of pocket. The VA authorizes a specific number of weekly hours, and we schedule care accordingly.
Qualifying Medicare Advantage plans may cover services at no cost. Coverage depends on plan authorization.
Individuals enrolled in the PACE program receive services at zero out-of-pocket cost within authorized hours.
Being contracted with the VA, Medicare Advantage, and PACE sets us apart. Only a small percentage of home care agencies hold a contract with any one of these programs.
Seniors Helping Seniors® provides Home Care in Sarasota and the surrounding communities throughout Sarasota and Manatee Counties.
A fall prevention assessment starts with a nurse visit at no obligation. Most families find it useful regardless of whether they move forward with ongoing care.
A registered nurse visits the client’s home for approximately one hour. The assessment covers fall-related hazards including grab bar placement near the toilet and shower, shower design, throw rugs, floor clutter, walkway obstructions, and other environmental risk factors. The nurse provides specific recommendations based on what they find. Caregivers then help ensure those measures are implemented once regular care begins.
Yes. Before personal care services begin, a registered nurse conducts an in-home assessment. This is standard for all clients and is not an add-on. The nurse evaluates both the client’s care needs and home safety factors, including fall hazards. The assessment typically takes place within 24 to 48 hours of the initial phone call.
Caregivers are trained to maintain ongoing awareness of the home environment, not just at the start of care. If they notice a new hazard during a regular visit, they flag it so the care team can address it. Fall risk changes over time, and our process accounts for that.
Two things stand out. First, our caregivers are experienced, mature adults who often have personal familiarity with the fall risks common in older homes. Second, because our caregiver turnover rate is significantly below the industry average, the same people are visiting consistently. A caregiver who knows a home and a client well is better positioned to notice when something has changed.
We serve communities throughout Sarasota and Manatee Counties, including Sarasota, Siesta Key, Venice, Palmer Ranch, Lakewood Ranch, Bradenton, Osprey, Gulf Gate Estates, and others. See the full list in the Areas We Serve section above.
From the initial phone call to the start of regular care, most families are up and running within 48 hours to one week. Simpler schedules can often be staffed within a couple of days. More comprehensive care plans that involve multiple caregivers rotating in shifts take a bit longer to coordinate.
